"Well it's official..."

This Facebook post is announcing Nate's eventual trip to Japan after a stop at DLI - the Defense Language Institute. His language seems to imply that he's informed at least some of his followers that this was a potential outcome. Therefore, this post acts as both a celebratory announcement and a confirmation for those he had mentioned it to before.

As was true with some of the other artifacts, his use of the exclamation point seems to imply excitement. Unlike some of the other Facebook posters, however, he used the new post function instead of the new job/position function - allowing him more control over the content and specific information divulged. This post is certainly less descriptive than others and may reflect an unwillingness to share many smaller details. This everyday writing shows that social media can be used both to confirm existing ideas and announce exciting news to those who may not have forseen it.
