Wishing You Luck... From Afar

In this first chalkboard message, Laura Frank is wishing her daughter good luck moving into her first apartment at Florida State. Her daughter had to go to back to college early for sorority recruitment. This meant both an early end to their summer together and that it didn't make sense for her parents to travel to help due to their work schedules and their daughter's schedule. This was the first move-in day without her family or their assistance there, so this message was the beginning of Laura's emotional support that she provided to Rachel through her phone during that day.

In the second chalkboard message, Laura reminded Rachel of the holiday the morning of Groundhog's Day. Later that day, she would send updates on the Groundhog predicting six more weeks of winter. This disappointed both mother and daughter as they get cold very easily and prefer when its warmer outside. However, Laura also knew her daughter went to college in Northern Florida and was very jealous when Rachel told her that it was significantly warmer than New York in late February.

In the third chalkboard message of this exhibit section, Laura was wishing Rachel good luck on her finals. Knowing that her academically motivated daughter was probably stressed, she sent this to comfort her through her phone (It did, in fact, comfort Rachel for a couple minutes).
