Wet Dreams

This artifact is a political advertisement used by J. Edgar Hoover in his 1928 Presidential campaign.

WetDreams.jpg

This artifact was used by Al Smith in the 1928 Presidential election. This was during the times on Prohibition, which Smith was against. Thus, wet dreams refer to those including free consumption of alcohol, rather than the alcoholic “drys.”

The theme of using playful animations to promate and demote candiates continues far into the 1900s. The chapter of Prohibition requires an accute grasp of contextuality in today's society.
