Final Thoughts, Honorable Mentions

To wrap up this exhibit, I must say that I had a blast exploring both myself and the users of the gimmick accounts. Their motivations for creating these accounts enthralled me, and their personalities were easy to find myself lost in. Through my interviews and conversations with these charismatic individuals, I gained valuable insight that made it possible to even go against my preconceived notions of social media and exploration, and even reform my thoughts on journalism by engaging in it.

These gimmick accounts provide community, space, and friendship, as well as camaraderie to all who interact with them, and as long as FSU students are contributing to their existence, as well as future FSU students that look back fondly on their cultivation, the spirit of human communication and connection shall prevail over world events, corrupt policies, and other detriments that face us beyond our institutions. Gimmick accounts are grassroots, malleable, and independent. While they have become more mainstream, they still retain this sense of community and understanding for those who feel as if they do not have a place at FSU, and as such, those who run gimmick accounts should do their best to remind themselves that they are contributing to the betterment of their campus when they on their Instagram pages or the stories they entertain FSU students and staff with.
