My Friend
A dedicated poem I have written for every person in my life.
Except for the woman who is my fathers wife.
It wasn't until a few years ago I started seeing how much she cares.
And am truly sorry for treating her so unfair.
It's not easy excepting a new parent to rule over you.
But now as an adult, I know that's not what you were trying to do.
Devoting my love to only one mother,
When all along it should have gone to the other.
I realize now what I should have back then,
And that is your not just my step-mother, but also MY FRIEND.
Happy Birthday, Cathy.
