The Diary of Frida Kahlo

Dublin Core

Subject

Description

In her diary, Kahlo accounts for the last 10 years of her life. It consists of troubles with her husband, her views on politics, and childhood recollections. She places her thoughts onto a page by means that are not necessarily verbal or even textual. The diary is filled with illustrations by Kahlo in addition to words that give further meaning to the images. On this particular page, she writes "yo soy la desintegración." Her words indicate that she felt as though she embodied disintegration, and her dying wish was to be cremated.
