An essay Nicolette Bauermeister wrote about her grandmother.

The submitter provided the following about the artifact’s history:
I created this piece when I was around seven years old; it is made up of wide ruled notebook paper and a number 2 pencil. My grandma sent me a photo of this piece about six months ago when she was cleaning out some cabinets and we both laughed about it via facetime. I wrote this letter when I was in second grade in Bentley Elementary School in Orlando, Florida. I moved to Orlando, Florida that same year from Puerto Rico and it was my first time ever speaking English. This paper was actually one of my first papers in English, I wrote it with the help of my teacher Mrs. Vaughn, she was the one who truly taught me how to speak, read, and write English. I wrote this paper about my grandma because I missed her and the rest of my family from when I moved to Florida. I sent it to her in the mail after Mrs. Vaughn graded it. I love reading this paper every now and then because it really shows how fast life goes by and it also shows so much of my childhood. The “special french fries” that she makes are still my favorite and she makes them every single time she comes over. My favorite part of it is the last paragraph where I talk about my grandma and lizards; this paragraph had me laughing in tears when she sent the picture of it to me. We both found it so funny that I said “And do you want to know what I really, really like?” The whole lizard story only happened once on her balcony in Luquillo, Puerto Rico and I found it crazy that she just casually took a lizard and put it on her ear. I don’t know why I guess it just stuck to me.

Linguistic Text

grandma was born in Puerto Rico. And she is very nice to me when I come over. She always make me her special french fries. And she always shows me pictures of my mother when she was little. She was also a model when she was younger. After and before that she was a beautician. She usually does my hair, makeup, and my nails. She likes lots of movies especially Annie and The Sound of Music. Just like me and my mom!!
What I really like about her is that she is a really good artist. And do you really want to know what I really, really like? Is that she puts long lizards and puts them around her ear!! And with really lizards she wears them as earrings!! So that's why I love my grandma.
