PHI MU's Red Carpet Affair
Dublin Core
Description
This artifact is graffiti painted by sisters of Phi Mu, Brittany Wayne and Kelsey Lauren, at Florida State University to advertise their "Red Carpet Affair" event. The background is painted in all black and covered with red and gold text reading "PHI MU's Red Carpet Affair." There are red and gold stars around the text as well as a gold border.
The submitter provided the following about the artifact's history:
This artifact is a painted piece that is advertising Phi Mu Sorority’s Formal Banquet. The colors used fit the theme Red Carpet Affair. This particular artifact was painted by two sisters that are in charge of the chapter’s public relations, and wanted to advertise our Formal night next to all of the other sorority’s walls.
This artifact is painted onto a wall that has probably been painted over around 100 times. Because this section of wall is specifically assigned to Phi Mu, when the sisters have a new event to advertise, they simply paint right over the previous piece. Old paint layers can be seen at the chipped edges creating a sense of nostalgia for viewers of previous pieces that lie underneath the newly painted black piece.
